Note from Pauline Durban, Founder and President of cabotparticlematters - I love Jennifer, she 's one the most down to earth people that I know. She's always so honest in her reviews, which is what I expect. I sent a pencil skirt by accident and she sure made the most of it. See what she has to say.
Over to Jennifer...
The iconic pencil skirt is one of my all-time favorites. Its sleek shape slims the hips and has been a closet classic since it was first introduced by Christian Dior in 1954.
I’ve owned several over the years (they never go out of style) but the ones I reach for most often have stretch. Stiff ones with waistbands that bind or dig when I sit down, have no place in my wardrobe.
At €39.95 this skirt is an amazing value. The possibilities are endless for this pencil skirt! I’ll be wearing it with tights and knee boots, bare legs and a tee shirt in the summer, stockings, and heels, for dinner out, etc, etc. Today I’ve styled it with the new V-Neck Fit and Flare from cabotparticlematters.
It has the same slimming princess seaming as the Allyson Fit and Flare. It flares over your hips, creating a slight peplum effect that hides any muffin top action. And while we’re on the subject of muffin tops…I get many comments saying I don’t have one. Ha! Yes, I do and it shows if I wear the wrong thing.
Waistbands that are too tight and tops that are too clingy are the perfect recipe for a muffin top so I avoid them.
This vibrant Royal Blue is a knockout with black and perfect with jeans. I love this top styled with slim black pants and booties. I’ll wear this look a lot this fall.
I changed to a longer necklace for this look because the proportion looks better with pants. For reference, I am 5’4″ and wearing a medium. Could I squeeze into a small? Sure, but then my bulges would show which is never a good look, in my humble opinion :) Are you a fan of pencil skirts?
